Privacy Policy

Who we are
The Central Texas Data Center Tracker is a volunteer-run 501(c)(4) civic advocacy organization based in San Marcos, Texas. Our website is centexdatacenters.org.
What information we collect
We collect personal information only when you voluntarily provide it:
- Email newsletter signup: your email address, and optionally your zip code and the page where you signed up.
- Community statement: your name, email address, optionally your zip code and a comment. Your name and comment may be displayed publicly if you consent. Your email address is never displayed publicly.
We do not collect payment information, Social Security numbers, or government identifiers.
How we use your information
- To send you email updates about data center proposals and hearings in Central Texas (newsletter subscribers).
- To verify your community statement signature and display aggregated signature counts to elected officials.
- For fraud prevention: we store a hashed (non-reversible) version of your IP address when you submit a community statement. We do not store your IP address in plain text.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Analytics and cookies
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service that does not use cookies and does not track individual users across sites. We do not use Google Analytics or other cookie-based tracking.
Data storage
Your data is stored in Supabase, a U.S.-based database provider. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We do not transfer your personal data outside the United States.
Data retention
We retain newsletter subscription data until you unsubscribe. We retain community statement data for the duration of the organization's advocacy work unless you request deletion.
Your rights
You may request to access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time by using our contact form. We will respond within 30 days.
To unsubscribe from our newsletter, click the unsubscribe link in any email we send you, or contact us directly.
Children
Our website is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices change. The effective date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last revised.
